Hammered Earrings workshop

Come and make yourself your own earrings out of Sterling Silver, Brass and copper. (Ear wires are all Sterling Silver)

During this short 4-hour course you will be able to make up to 4 pairs of hammered and textured earrings. This workshop is where you will design and manufacture your own earrings using tools and techniques such as:

Roller Printing

Sawing

Filing

Hammering

Roller printing involves pressing a textured material, be it silk, lace, sand paper or fly-wire into a metal's surface. This is done by rolling the metal and texturing material through a rolling mill. Even the tiniest and most delicate detail can create impressive results. All of which we can colour and oxidise to dramatic effect.

The workshop is run on either a Saturday or Sunday and runs for 4hrs, starting at

10.00am – 12.00pm Studio

(we break for lunch for an hour, you are welcome to bring lunch or eat from our close local eateries.)

1.00pm – 3.00pm Studio

All materials and Silver Hooks and Butterflies are included in the course fee of $250.

The class is small; with a maximum of 5 and a minimum of 4 you are guaranteed nearly one to one help throughout the day. No experience is necessary for this workshop, just come and create! You will learn how to use a LPG torch to solder, you will use a Jewellers saw and scribe to mark out and cut your metal. You will also use hand tools such as pliers, hand files and precision hammers. Please feel free to bring with you any ideas and designs you may have, also any found objects you would like to incorporate into your design.

For your own safety you must wear closed in shoes and long hair must be tied back, wear comfortable clothes, jeans or pants and a high neck T-shirt, an apron is good. If you use glasses to read, please bring them. (Simple magnifiers can help too)
