Hammered Stacking Ring Set
Come and join me in my studio and make yourself a set of up to 5 sterling silver stacking rings or a spinner ring. The techniques you will learn include sawing, soldering, filing, hammering and polishing. You will able to make twisted wire rings and hammer others for texture. The spinner ring is a wide band with finer bands trapped by the inner ring’s fluted ends.
The images above show the Spinner ring, which is in effect up to 5 rings. We will learn how to Size your finger correctly and you can make yourself a perfectly fitting set of rings. If you have any scrap gold we can melt it down and solder it to your rings to spectacular effect. You can also make your rings using gold wire by arrangement, as this would be a separate material order at your own cost.
The workshop is run on either a Saturday or Sunday and runs for 4hrs, starting at
10.00am – 12.00pm Studio
(we break for lunch for an hour, you are welcome to bring lunch or eat from our close local eateries.)
1.00pm – 3.00pm Studio
The cost of this workshop is $250 inclusive of your materials and all tools are provided.
No experience is necessary for you to have fun. You will learn how to use a LPG torch to solder, you will use a Jewellers saw and scribe to mark out and cut your metal. You will also use hand tools such as pliers, hand files and precision hammers.
In the photo above a couple made themselves rings for each other using their own gold to great unique effect.
For your own safety participants need to wear comfortable clothing, jeans or pants and a high neck T-Shirt, closed in shoes and long hair must be tied back. (an apron is also good) If you need glasses to read please bring them, simple magnifiers/readers can be helpful too. Feel Free to bring lunch or we have local Eateries including a Vegan and Gluten Free café within easy walking distance.
